Customer most helpful reviews 80 of 80 people found the following review helpful. Wow - I'm happy! By Richard C. I drew a lot of electronics, all makes and many models. I had not upgraded my main system for many years, and knew it was time to change. I'm a fan of the Onkyo (I have another Onkyo AV receiver in the living room) and was looking for a network and with more force. Man does it deliver. The quality, look and feel is all first quality. This is a 7.1 system, but the powers 10 speakers, two subwoofers and three different zones / rooms! That's 11 speakers and two subwoofers (13 in total.) Note that Frasier episode a few years ago, he bought a new sound system, and your living room looked like a Stonehenge speaker. It seemed unlikely at the moment - but now it's clear as possible. If you have speakers, full size, you have a printer is the first call. Well, I have 11 speakers and a sub, various sizes and makes - that's pretty impressive. The sound? Wow Jean Michelle Jarre Aero played by - a DVD-Audio 5.1. He knocked my socks off. The resolution and depth of sound have been amazing. The receiver also has many ways to listen - so many that it takes more than two pages for the list. Different modes of Dolby, THX and more. There is a diagram showing the front speakers to be used in each mode. As changes, the display of speakers - very simple. Want only two speakers? Four? Eleven? Simple. So here is my experience, the package is opened to the ignition. Packages: Extra-heavy. Box double thick foam conveniently. The box will have a lot of abuse in shipping. View my photos included. Decompression: Typical anti-static wrap and foam, tape and scratch protection. Unit heavy - it will take two people to unpack unless you are moving comfortable weight. Installation: I find it easier to make a temporary platform around the same height as the platform of the unit will sit on - I always did it. In this case, made two storage boxes it the perfect altitude in this way, I was able to attach all the cables and slide the unit into force. When we talk about so many threads there are a great help. RC 180 comprises a manual (thick!), Quick Start (handy!) and a sheet of stickers on your speaker cables to brand. At first I thought - "yeah, I need them!" They have come in handy! The labels were a real time saver. See also the pictures here. My Blu-ray players use a network connection, and so does the equipment. I had a single network cable in the room, adding a hub to split the connection. I can not use wireless at home - it is an older building, lath / plaster / steel mesh. It acts as a Faraday cage, and kill signals. The RC1800 uses a wired connection anyway, as my BluRay player. If you already have a cable connection in the room, remember you may need a hub to add more stores. It took about an hour to connect everything from unpacking to slip the device in place. Before the unit in place, I ran the speaker test, this allows you to check the correct placement. Again, it was very convenient. I had the front upper left and upper right front speaker connections changed (there are seven speakers - two front top, two front, two wide front and center) down, then slid the drive into place. On again, checked all AV connections. You can customize almost all the connections. For example, I have my DVD that uses this component to 1 and 2 coaxial digital audio. My video (yes, still, I have a video player) is using video input, and I have the TV set to use optical two. This allows lots of customization and personalization. And I called all the records, so that the screen shows the text you want. Then I ran Audyssey settings. I love this system. My other Onkyo is also used, and it's great. The RC180 uses a more advanced version. And the three tests of normal listening position, and a further option for the other three positions that I developed.
