Manufacturer's Review (December 26, 2008) Combining personal GPS navigation and real-time Points of Interest (POI) with Internet based entertainment and full web browsing, the easily portable and pocketable Clarion MiND Mobile Internet Navigation Device provides rich GPS navigation with full PC-like Internet browsing capabilities thanks to its 4.8-inch, 800 x 480-pixel touchscreen. You can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi at home, in the office or via hotspots out and about in the city. The ClarionMiND also allows for Internet connectivity via Bluetooth when paired with a mobile phone. The Clarion MiND in black. This next-generation mobile device uses the power of Intel's Atom processor, and it also features a 4 GB internal memory, MicroSD memory card slot for expansion, built-in speaker and headphone jack, USB connectivity, and a rechargeable battery that provides up to 1.3 hours of continuous use. It's pre-installed with complete mapping and points of interest (POI) coverage for the U.S. and Canada from Navteq and you can easily use Google Maps for additional searching. It comes with both DC (in-car) and AC (in-home) power adapters as well as a windshield/dash mount kit. Additionally, with the optional car docking station (model NK1U), you can receive real-time traffic info via the Traffic Message Channel (RDS-TMC) and route navigation audio and music files through your vehicle's audio system. Navigation A full-fledged navigation system that guides you accurately to your destination, the Clarion MiND offers ease of operation along with a brightly colorful touchscreen display as well as a unique combination of Internet access and navigation. In addition to pre-installed POIs, you can use information supplied by Google Maps to check out information about a place you've been wanting to go. You can then obtain your destination’s information using Send button on Google Maps, and then transfer that information to your ClarionMiND and navigate directly to its location. The Clarion MiND provides smooth movement and automatic zoom during route guidance, as well as lane guidance, display of speed limits, and text-to-speech voice guidance (in English, Spanish and French). Other features include 2 million POIs listed in 59 categories, fast route and re-route calculations, flexible routing options for type of transportation (car/pedestrian/bike/motorcycle) and type of route (short/quick/economical), both 2D and 3D map views, and house number resolution for door-to-door navigation. The next turn direction and distance to the turn are displayed on the top left section of the screen. When you approach an intersection, the top of the screen shows the direction and the voice guidance gives you instructions. The Car Mode's split screen. The Mobile Mode's slide view (top) and carousel view (bottom). The Clarion MiND's web browser. The MySpace browser. Portable, Dockable As a portable device, the Clarion MiND allows you to use it in the home or office, or when you are out and about. In your car, the navigation mode starts as soon as the unit is placed in the standard cradle or the optional Car Dock. The touchscreen makes operation easy, and you can use the split screen display to see and operate both the map and a quick information screen that shows other applications available while in the Car Mode. The optional Car Dock also provides a lifetime RDS-TMC subscription to help you navigate around traffic and save gas. In Mobile Mode, the Clarion MiND acts like a portable media player (PMP) with graphical icons providing access to all the device's multimedia and Internet capabilities. The icon layout can be switched between a Slide View and Carousel View, which can be arranged to your liking based on what you use most . Stay Connected and Entertained On The Go When connected to the Web using a Wi-Fi network or using a Bluetooth link to your mobile phone's cellular network, you can use the MySpace icon to go directly to this popular social networking website with over 100 million members. The easy-to-operate MySpace browser has enhanced viewer functions to make MySpace even more fun to use than with a PC. What's more, you can receive e-mail from friends or display blog update messages in either Car Mode or Mobile Mode, so staying connected with friends is easier than ever. The YouTube icon on the Home Screen gives you one-touch access to one of the world's most popular video community--no need to activate the web browser. The easy to view and operate YouTube viewer displays thumbnails so you can use buttons like Featured, Most Viewed, Related and Most Discussed videos, to quickly view the videos you want to see. Using the Firefox-based browser, you can navigate the Web the same way you do on your PC. Find where you want to go, such as restaurants, concert venues and shops by checking the information on the Internet. Check the latest weather conditions with information from The Weather Channel. One day’s weather information for a designated area is displayed in the Quick Information Area of the home screen, and activating the weather application will display meteorological information for 5 days. The latest news is displayed in the Quick Information Area of the home screen and updated every 60 minutes from both BBC and CNN. Enjoy your favorite music, movies and photos on the Clarion MiND with the pre-installed RealPlayer software, which will play multimedia files stored on either the Clarion MiND's internal 4 GB memory or on optional MicroSD memory cards. It's compatible with a wide range of file formats (audio - mp3, mp4, mpg, mpeg, rm, ra, rv, rmvb, aac, ac3, ogg, wav, wma; video - wmv, 3gp, divx; photos - jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp). To listen to music, tapping the playback files for category lists like Now Playing, Artist and Album brings up the playback screen and displays artist names and album and song titles. You can select random or repeat for playback, or even use other applications while playing music. The ClarionMiND also comes with e-mail software compatible with all the major mail protocols, including POP3 and SMTP. Input is easy using the on-screen keyboard. You can register multiple e-mail accounts, enabling you to send and receive emails separately as required for personal or business use. Other Features Software Keyboard: Tap the fields for mail or keyboard search and a soft keyboard will appear on the display. Large and easy to use, the keyboard allows you to input navigation destinations and search words. Quick Information Keys: A Quick Information Area is displayed in miniature at the bottom of the home screen. By tapping the four key icons at the edges of the area--News key, Weather key, MySpace key, and Portal Sync key--you can display information from each in real time on the home screen. Touch Panel Control: Using a stylus pen or your finger to tap or drag objects displayed on the screen makes operation easy. Contacts: Registering your address, phone number, and e-mail address in your address book enables you to smoothly link functions by activating Navigation from the Contacts screen, inputting the settings for your destination, and sending e-mail. PDF Viewer: PDF file viewing capability. PDF files can be opened in the File Manager or the Browser. You can use touch operation to change the display location by dragging it across the screen. Long-pressing the screen gives you the full-screen display. File Manager: ClarionMiND provides file management, allowing you to search for, move, copy, delete, or change the names of files in the directory file within the ClarionMiND folder. In addition to ClarionMiND file management, connecting to a USB / micro SD device automatically activates File Manager, which makes it possible to manage files saved to USB / micro SD devices, such as USB memory cards and micro SD cards. Use this to manage documents and PDF files, as well as music, videos and photos that can be reproduced using RealPlayer. Note Pad: You can create simple documents using Note Pad. In addition to creating and editing sentences, you can use the text editor for search and replace, selecting fonts, and setting the Word Wrap and Auto Indent functions. Mixed experience so far, from awesome to awful By Stan Matofu 6/3/2009 Update I've been using the device for a few weeks now. It has a lot of potential and things can be done, but many applications/features lack the quality of a mature product: inconsistent and unfriendly interface, missing features etc. Major issues: 1. Small POI database. Only 2 mln POIs, and so far, no way to buy or import additional POIs. Big problem for me, and no easy way around. Finding missing POIs using Google at home takes longer than on a regular GPS unit with built-in POIs. You cannot use Google on the road (or it is much more difficult). Some GPS devices have 6 or more millions of POIs; you can really appreciate it after using the limited 2mln Clarion's database. 2. POI search speed can be from 10 seconds to 3 minutes!!! depending on user's entry. 3 minutes - it is just an absurd number. It must be fixed. 3. No Bluetooth hands-free calling. (The GPS is supposed to work with a phone. Why not hands-free calling? I need a BT headset? How many more electronics should I carry?) 4. Bluetooth dial-up network (DUN) doesn't work with my phone. I was surprised because it was one of the major selling points. Clarion provides only a list of compatible networks and my network is on that list. No list of compatible/supported phones.(My phone's DUN works with my other devices) My hope is that Clarion will keep releasing updates and improving its functionality. Written before 6/3/2009 The great: 1. Integration with the Internet: a) You can send POIs from the Internet to ClarionMiND. Even with good GPS units finding POIs may be difficult: you either don't find it or you find too many. ClarionMiND lets you plan your trip on your computer at home using Google Maps, and send POIs to the device. Great feature!!! b) Great desktop-class Internet browser. You will be able to do everything you can do on your desktop at home, including Flash videos. c) Google search, and it is integrated with navigation. 2. Navigation (I will update this review on route quality after I use the unit more): a) So far routes look good. b) Lane assist. It shows which lane on a multi-lane road you should take. c) Nice job with voice directions. For example, it tells you something like, "go to the right side of the road" in order to prepare you for right turn. d) All info needed for navigation is on the screen: compass heading (N, NE, E...), arrival time, distance, next and current street. e) auto-zoom. 3. POI a) Very fast search b) You can preview POIs on the map. This is something nice and unique. You can select a single or a group of POIs and see them on a temporary map. 4. Address entry a) Very fast. b) QWERTY keyboard c) Predictable entry. Only valid keys are active. As you keep entering data, it shows what was found at the top of the screen. d) It remembers previous entry, and lets you re-start search from any level: state, city, street. 5. Hardware: a) Gorgeous, high-resolution, large screen b) Touchscreen works well. It is responsive. c) Dedicated hardware buttons for Home, Top Menu, Music/Sound. d) Great to hold in hands 6. Free Internet traffic. So far, I didn't find if it is integrated with navigation. There will be an option for radio traffic which, most likely, will be integrated. 7. Internet weather, news, email etc 8. Fast GPS lock. Less than 30 seconds. The bad: 1.POI database is small. I couldn't find retail stores like, Walmart, Target, Costco etc 2.The car mount is awful. It is a few 100s dollars device with a "$1" mount. Very difficult to mount/dismount. 3.After you mount the device, it automatically limits its Internet functionality. Result: you cannot use the Internet in your garage when the device is mounted. You have to dismount it 1st, check the Internet, mount it again. AWFUL!!! If they wanted to make it safe, they should detect vehicle speed from the GPS. 4.Addresses are not displayed in

Super ColorStream Pro® Component Video Output for both DVD and TiVo playback. 10-Bit/54mHz Video digital-to-analog conversion with High Resolution Filter for maximum color purity, detail, and resolution. Front Panel Menu Control offers full DVD/TiVo menu navigation.
Amazon Sales Rank: #83903 in Home Theater Brand: Toshiba Dimensions: 25.00 pounds Progressive-scan DVD player with integrated personal video recorder Includes no-fee TiVo Basic service with the ability to pause live TV and store programs to the unit's 80 GB hard drive Offers manual recording capability by time and channel Compatible with DVD-R, DVD-RW, video CD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CDs Upgradeable to full TiVo service and TiVo home-networking capabilities (through paid services)
Early Adopters Pick: June 2003. This is the first combination DVD player-TiVo digital video recorder. Toshiba's SD-H400 digital media server offers the convenience of no-fee PVR service with the option for immediate upgrades alongside high-quality, progressive-scan DVD-Video playback--all from a single, easy-to-use component. The SD-H400 houses an 80 GB TiVo Series2 PVR that comes with TiVo Basic service, providing free, limited TiVo features right out of the box, with no subscription fees. TiVo Basic service offers the ability to control live TV through features like pause, fast forward, rewind, and slow motion playback of live television; three days of electronic program guide; and manual recording capability by time and channel. The SD-H400 is the first device to offer TiVo Basic service. The SD-H400's DVD-video section is equipped with a 10-bit/54 MHz video digital-to-analog converter for maximum color purity, detail, and resolution. When connected to a television via the unit's ColorStream Pro component-video outputs, you'll be ready to enjoy Toshiba's Digital Cinema Progressive technology with either DVDs or TiVo PVR playback. The SD-H400 can also play formats such as DVD-R, DVD-RW, video CD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CDs. Because the SD-H400 is built on TiVo Series2 technology, you have the ability to upgrade to full TiVo service to enjoy features such as Season Pass (the ability to record every episode of a program no matter when it airs, automatically), WishList (which finds and records programs that feature your favorite actor, director, or genre), Search by Title (which helps you find any show when all you know is its title), 14 days of program guide data, richer recording options, and an easy-to-use scheduling interface. (Full TiVo service costs $12.95 a month or $299 for a lifetime subscription; visit www.TiVo.com for detailed information.) Another upgrade available to the Toshiba SD-H400 is the TiVo Home Media Option, a premium package of networked home entertainment. This configuration takes full advantage of the SD-H400's capabilities as a digital media server. The Home Media Option--an upgrade available via phone or broadband connection--lets you use the SD-H400's USB port to connect the SD-H400 to your wired or wireless home network and PC. The Home Media Option adds the following features to the SD-H400: streaming MP3 files and digital photo viewing from a PC or Macintosh for playback through your TV or home-entertainment system, remote scheduling (through which you can schedule TiVo recordings from anywhere you can access the Internet), and connection to another TiVo Series2 PVR within your home (so you can share programs between the two units--for, say, viewing a program in the bedroom that was recorded in the family room, and vice versa).

By Beeeil I wanted something for my wife and me to better manage our TV viewing, yet I'm completely against paying a monthly-fee for recording TV programs. The Toshiba SD-H400 with TiVo Basic turned out to be a perfect product for us, until Media Center PCs go mainstream.I didn't really need another DVD player at home (we already have 5 other stand-alone DVD players), but if that's the only way to get TiVo Basic service, so be it. Plus, the price I paid for this Toshiba (no rebate) is only (a bit) more than a stand-alone Series 2 TiVo (after rebate). For (the money), I got a progressive-scan DVD player, progressive output for TiVo, AND free life-time subscription to TiVo Basic service. What a bargain.TiVo Basic Service:Okay, so I don't get the Season Pass feature. However, once you're set to record a show (say, Friends at 8PM this Thursday), you can navigate to the To-Do list and select that program, and change the recording option to "Repeat this recording". Change it to weekly, then you're all set. The only risk if that if NBC changes the time of Friends to 9 due to say the State of the Union Address, then you'll record 30 minutes worth of a bunch of people clapping at nothing. But that's a risk I'm willing to take. One feature I don't get with the Basic service is the show search feature. However, we got the TiVo to help with managing the shows that we KNOW we want to watch. With young children, we really don't have time to watch the programs that we didn't want to watch in the first place but are suggested to us. So I won't miss that feature. For new movies we have had Netflix 4-disc service since 2000. You can always navigate using the program guide to set up recording if you want to watch something. If you visit TiVo forums such as tivocommunity.com, you'll see that other TiVo owners complaining about the fact that you can no longer use TiVo Series 2 for anything, including manual recording, without paying the (monthly) fee. With the Toshiba SD-H400, not only you can use it for manual recording, you have a 3-day program guide available to you over the phone or wireless network. If the Plus features are important to you, then you can always upgrade to the full TiVo feature for the same fee as a stand-alone Series 2. It goes without saying that we have no intention of upgrading. To get program guide via wireless network:My Toshiba came with version 5.1.1 of the TiVo software, but version 5.1.1b is required for the newer version of the Linksys USB Wireless Adapter (v 2.8). It took a few tries to download the new version of the TiVo software. It would have done it over night, but I was impatient and wanted to pull the sw manually. Note that landline is required to get the software upgrade. To record one channel while watching another:I can watch a different channel than the one I'm recording because I split my cable signal so that one cable goes to the Toshiba and one goes to the TV. While recording on the Toshiba, I can use the regular TV remote to switch to other channels.Any cons?Remote: The Toshiba remote is not as nicely designed as that of the TiVo, which had just been recognized by the NY Times as one piece of industrial design mastery. The Toshiba remote is long and hard to use if you change channel via numeral buttons often.Wireless adapter: Since the TiVo software it comes with is version 5.1.1, it does not support the newer versions of the Linksys USB wireless adapter (I got a v. 2.8). You will need a landline to download a new TiVo software to upgrade to version 5.1.1b for the Toshiba to recognize your network adapter.Video extraction or copying: Like the stand-alone TiVo Series 2, there is no easy way of extracting the recorded video from the Toshiba device without opening it up (voiding the warranty) and load some files onto the base Linux operating system. The only other way is to video capture (analog cable

Clark You should look closely at this player if any of these descriptions fit you: -You own SACDs or DVD-As and want to play them on the same player you use for Blu-ray and DVD; -You want to upgrade to a universal player that can transmit all audio and video formats (including SACD and DVD-A) via HDMI; -You own a high-end video processor (separately or built into your receiver or display) that you want to use instead of the one built into your player; -You own a processor that does not accept HDMI but does have analog 7.1/5.1 inputs, and want to use them to hear lossless audio (TrueHD/DTS-MA) from Blu-ray Discs. -You prefer to do business with a smaller company that has a reputation for responsive and effective customer support. You are not the target market for this player if: -You require that your streaming solution (for Netflix, Amazon, YouTube etc.) be part of your Blu-ray player -- this player does not stream; -You own a very large display and need the very best available upconversion of standard DVDs (which would make you a candidate for Oppo's $499 BDP-83); -You don't want to spend more than the minimum for standard Blu-ray audio and video performance, and you have HDMI-enabled equipment. -You feel you can benefit from the audio performance of very high-end DACs for stereo or multichannel analog audio (which would recommend the BDP-83 or BDP-83SE). While I've only had my BDP-80 for a few days, I've become very impressed with the thoroughness and elegance of its design. This is a very well thought-out player, aimed at users who have a reasonable grasp of the technology they're using. I should note that I did not spend much time on the file-playback capabilities of this unit. I did play a couple of MPG files I had on a thumb drive (there's a port on the front of the player) and found a very nice menu and very straightforward operation. There is a long list of supported file formats. Some of the things that jumped out at me: -The very well-packed player arrives, inside the box, wrapped not in plastic, but in an Oppo tote bag made from recycled material. -The manual is clear, well-written in English, and printed with premium materials. (Updated versions can be downloaded as well.) -A 6' HDMI cable is included. -The unit has a very solidly-built feel to it. -It is silent in operation (no cooling fan) yet does not run hot. -Tray operation feels and sounds solid, well-damped, and not a bit flimsy. There is no ambiguity about whether the disc is properly centered in the tray. -Menus are attractive and unambiguous. -The remote has a number of unusual but useful controls, but is still comfortable and intuitive for basic operations. (Note that it is not backlit; the backlit version costs more and is available direct from Oppo. This is moot if you plan to use a universal remote, as I do.) -The player is very quick in all modes of operation. It powers up and boots very fast; the tray is ready to open in a few seconds. Blu-ray operations are on a par with the PS3; other types of discs load and play as fast as most regular players. -In my installation, at least, I connected to my home network, the player immediately configured itself, contacted the mothership, found and downloaded the latest firmware, all in a couple of minutes. Detailing every feature of the player and remote would basically be to reproduce the owner's manula which, since it's available as a pdf on Oppo's site, you can do for yourself. So I'll end by saying that the player appears to do everything that Oppo says it will do, and does it quickly and without fuss. The company includes a one-year parts-and-labor warranty, and has an excellent reputation for customer support. You can pay a lot less for equivalent performance in Blu-ray playback via HDMI, even in players with support for streaming services. If that's all you need there may be no reason for you

Super Clear Panel Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture. Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes. The latest version of Samsung’s breakthrough super clear panel technology makes colors appear more vibrant and blacks even deeper than ever. Enhanced films reduce glare and optimize off-angle viewing. 50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio/500 nit Brightness 50,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung’s new LCD TV’s give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever. Full HD 1080P Full HD, or 1080p, contains 1.5 times more scanning lines than conventional HD TVs. More scanning lines mean more pixels, more details and a better picture. The new Samsung LCD TV with resolution that is approximately 2 times greater than conventional HDTVs, creating the most perfect picture imaginable. Samsung’s 1080p panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 4ms. The fast response time, coupled with Samsung’s Auto Motion Plus 120Hz motion blur reduction technology dramatically reduces motion blur and judder. Digital Natural Image Engine DNIe™ The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine. This exclusive Samsung technology dramatically improves the picture by enhancing the contrast, detail, white balance and reduces. Wide Color Enhancer/Cold Cathode Flourescent Lamp The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72% of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92% coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors. Samsung’s exclusive Wide Color Enhancer technology delivers more brilliant colors, even in bright areas of the picture where blues and greens are washed out on conventional screens. The system displays wider color reproduction, showing you truer colors – the fresh green of spring foliage, the intense blue of the summer sky. Connectivity To make the Series 6 a true entertainment hub for any home, Samsung has incorporated advanced HD connectivity and networking capabilities that expand the HDTV’s functionality. Great picture, DLNA shows promise, a few flaws - what's with the PIP By Deux Bits I have only had this TV for a few days, so this is not a complete review, but I wanted to warn others about some issues that they may find important. Picture quality is great - I have not run a calibration or tested various known sources for difficult to reproduce scenes or motion. The blacks are so good that the image color looks over saturated at the factory default setting when placed next to a panel with lower contrast ratio. (It should be kept in mind that the eye has a logarithmic response to light, and a 50,000:1 contrast ratio may not be that much more than a 30,000:1 ratio.) In the store I was comparing this panel to a 46a550 and 46a530 all at their factory default settings. The 550's image was more natural looking at the factory default setting. Watching SD analog content on digital TVs can be annoying with various artifacts visible in the conversion of the analog signal to the native digital of the TV. This TV does a very respectable job of this - with the SD images mostly just looking fuzzy and soft compared to digital content - pretty much what one might expect. The TOC feature seems like a waste of time and may introduce some issues with light bleeding in from the environment. Not a problem for me in my home environment. So, if I was happy with the image on the 550 why did I get a 750? Two reasons - Motion blur: the 650 and 750 panels have higher response times and higher refresh rates thus reducing LCD motion blur artifacts, and reason two: DLNA... DNLA is a very nice feature - super nice - I hope it takes off. DLNA takes advantage of networking and media stored on a PC to provide viewable content through the TV. What's really going on here is that the TV designers are taking advantage of the computer they have inside the TV to enable them to do more digital media things with the TV. The TV has an Ethernet network interface - wireless or wired. We're computer geeks, we have a fairly robust network and my family has a strong interest in Internet downloads of various media content - in particular video. I have various foreign video content that I cannot get on a DVD. Netflix and others (Amazon, Apple, etc) have downloadable video content, although the DRM on much of this content is a problem. The rub is you have to watch this downloaded content on a PC, or a PC hooked directly up to a TV display or some other media PC kludge. DLNA helps get around some of these issues. The DLNA capability of this model is remarkable, not perfect, but still great. You have to install a piece of software on the computer that provides a way for the PC to share content on the PC through the network interface for the TV to "see". On the TV, you use the W.link feature to access the shared content on the PC. Music, Images and Videos stored on the PC are all accessible through the TV. Remarkably easy to access and view on the TV. Fantastic. There are a few glitches - The software on the PC was not able to handle all the media I threw at it in the first go around - I backed off (why would I play music through a TV?) and the software was able to complete it's build of it's database of content on the PC. I hope this problem will get cured in future versions of the DLNA server software that runs on the PC. Another small glitch was that when I decided to end my watching of these shows stored on the PC and I exited the w.link feature it appeared to crash the TV's OS. I had older firmware (1004), so I updated to 1007 and I hope this might cure the problem, although I have no evidence of this yet. So DLNA looks very promising but it is not perfect. I have not tried viewing content that is locked with DRM of some kind, but I strongly suspect this is not going to work. Further proof that DRM is seriously flawed. Very good value Slingbox HD competitor that doesn't nickel and dime you for add-ons By David Pearlman I am a HUGE fan of the Slingbox Pro, another video broadcast device which is the direct competition to this unit (see my review of the Slingbox Pro elsewhere). It is the rare internet based appliance that does exactly what it promises, with minimal headaches and excellent support. What I don't like about the Slingbox Pro is that they nickel and dime you to death for add ons. Want wireless? You'll have to pay for that. Want to actually use the high definition capabilities of the "HD Pro" Slingbox? That'll cost you another $50 for a proprietary dongle. Want to watch your Slingbox on a cell phone? That also extra. The HAVA includes all those options in the package AND it's cheaper to boot. In addition, the HAVA offers capabilities not available on the Slingbox, namely the ability to stream to up to three devices simultaneously (Slingbox only streams to one device at a time) and the ability to record to an attached hard drive (option), to act as a low budget DVR (I didn't test this). So far, so great. But the question is: How well does it work. The answer is, mostly, very well. Setup is not quite as slick as for the Slingbox (which is incredibly easy), but I found it straightforward and not particularly time consuming. Once setup (using their setup program), and having connected my Tivo Series 3 high definition box, I was ready to see how it worked in the field. The first test was using a PC elsewhere in my home. The connection there is very strong, and not unexpectedly, given the good bitrate, the picture was excellent. (Note that although this is marketed as "high definition" it's actualy the low definition version of high definition, 720 x 480--a limitation of wireless among other things). The picture was strong and constant--no stuttering or other snags. Of course, this was an easy test, since the wireless signal is excellent. The better test was to see how the remote software player dealt with poor or mediocre bit streams. To test this, I took both my laptop and my Windows Mobile phone to a local coffee shop where the wireless connection is only fair. Trying out the laptop first, I found the video to be pretty good. On occasion the video would stall, but it was mostly smooth and DEFINITELY very watchable. As is the case with Slingbox, the viewing software appeared capable of reducing the resolution as the bitrate fell (the picture got softer when the bitrate fell). I had the same experience watching on my Windows Mobile phone. For comparison, I also viewed my Slingbox remotely from the same location. The picture quality was generally comparable, although if pushed to the wall I would say that the Slingbox picture was perhaps a little better. But it was certainly not a substantial difference. On the whole, I found the HAVA + player software to be nearly as good as the Slingbox. Now, if they were comparably priced, I'd suggest going with the Slingbox. However, given that the HAVA player gives you several options for free that Slingbox charges for, and offers two functionalities not available at all on the Slingbox (stream to more than one device at a time, connection to a USB hard drive) I am inclined to recommend the HAVA. 58 of 58 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Video Quality, Reasons to Love, Reasons to Cry By Truth Teller This device simultaneously exceeded my expectations and failed to meet them. Let me start with the bottom line of whether or not you should buy this device. Buy IF: - You want good quality streaming video - You want to watch this from a Windows PC. - You want to watch this from a Windows mobile device or one of the other supported mobile phones. - You have a wired LAN. - You run your TV signal through a box of some sort (even a vcr works). - You don't mind doing some cable re-wiring on your home theater.

Your lifestyle demands the best in high-definition and with BRAVIA Full HD 1080 products you get it. 1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution 1920 x 1080 Panel Resolution --- When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA W Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels 5(more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content that can be delivered by our cutting edge 1080p Blu-ray disc player. 10-bit Processing and 10-bit Display While it's great to state that a TV is capable of creating billions of colors it's a whole lot better when you have a display that can actually display them. That's the logic behind Sony's 10-bit processor and 10-bit display. Sony follows 10-bit processing with a 10-bit panel, allowing 64 times the levels of color expression than an 8-bit panel. What that translates to is smoother transitions from color to color and subtle color changes faithfully reproduced. BRAVIA Engine EX Full Digital Video Processor The BRAVIA Engine EX full digital video processing system is based on Sony's famous BRAVIA Engine video processing system. Live Color Creation System featuring WCG-CCFL Decades of television know how allow us to realize that an LCD TV is more than just the panel; it’s actually a system. Uncompromised picture quality starts with combining carefully chosen components and circuits to optimize system quality, among these are the color creation and processing functions. That’s what Live Color Creation is all about. It starts with the BRAVIA Engine EX video processing system, which enhances primary colors and corrects half-tone colors for natural overall color. Next, a WCG-CCFL backlight using Sony’s phosphor formula delivers a specific spectrum of light designed to work with our specially formulated color filters. The combination of these three components creates deep, deep blues and natural greens for overall colors that draw you right into the picture. Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) Function Sony’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) builds on our excellent on-contrast ratio performance of 1,800:11. A Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 16,000:12 is achieved by using real-time image processing to adjust the contrast along with optimizing backlight levels. But rather than focus on the "numbers", Sony focuses on actual picture performance avoiding exaggerated blacks where detail can be lost. ACE translates to blacker blacks in darker scenes, as well as better shadow detail in other scenes for a difference that you can see. x.v.Color technology BRAVIA HDTV's performance has now advanced to the point that the color range can be defined by limitations in the original video source, rather than the TV. Thanks to the adoption of a newly approved international color standard called xvYCC (an option in the HDMI v1.3 spec and which Sony participated in creating), the color space has been greatly expanded. 1.8 times as many natural colors as existing HDTV signals will now be faithfully reproduced. x.v.Color is the name Sony has chosen to promote video products that include xvYCC capability. x.v.Color enabled products can now offer more accurate color reproduction and natural colors. 24p True Cinema (24p Input Capability)Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sony wisely takes advantage of this by including 24p output capability on their BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc player. It makes sense that select 2007 BRAVIA TVs will include 24p input capability. The benefit? Images are smooth and natural looking. Once you experience 24p video it will be hard to view video without it. DMex - Ready (Digital Module Extender) Sony's Digital Media Extender (DMex) ready televisions offer a digital connection path for the addition of the optional modules like the new BRAVIA Internet Video Link. 6 With innovative DMex expansion capabilities featuring the Emmy award winning XMB user interface, select 2007 models are not merely TVs, but powerful entertainment platforms that not only meet your needs today, but expand easily to meet tomorrow's needs as well. Xross Media Bar (XMB) interface When was the last time you saw an on-screen display that was fast, fun and easy to use? Sony's award-winning Xross Media Bar (pronounced Cross) provides a logical and fast way to access set up menus, user controls, and more. The on-screen display comes to life by pushing the XMB menu button on the remote. Navigation through the menus is smooth and fast. BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology Sony created BRAVIA Theatre Sync to go beyond basic digital audio and video transmission. Based on the HDMI-CEC function. BRAVIA Theatre Sync will be included on select BRAVIA Theatre home A/V systems and components. This useful function reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, routing signals, etc. to the simple push of one button.8 Sony calls this nifty feature BRAVIA Theatre Sync. Here's how it works. Want to play a DVD on your Sony A/V system? Easy, just push PLAY on the BRAVIA HDTV remote and everything is taken care of for you. Even when the system is off! Want to change from TV sound to digital surround sound through your Sony BRAVIA Theatre A/V system? Just one push of the Theater Sound button on the remote and voila, surround sound through your system. Want to power down everything once you've finished enjoying it? Push one button and the TV and A/V system powers down. BRAVIA Theatre Sync helps make things a whole lot easier to operate. S-Force Front Surround Built around a sophisticated set of Sony algorithms, the S-Force Front Surround enhancement function generates realistic surround sound from the two speakers in the TV. Unlike some other "virtual surround" technologies, sound does not need to be bounced off of side walls or other surfaces to hear three-dimensional sound. No matter what the size or shape of the room it's possible to hear sounds from behind you.

Aujong First, I would like to say that this TV is a beauty. It's easy to setup. It took me around 10 minutes to set it up which include opening of the box, moving away all the styro foam, hauling it to the TV stand and connecting it with HDMI cables. Second, I have Sony PSP and this TV's navigation's is very similar to the PSP. Hence, in order to navigate through the menu is a walk in the park. In addition, short cuts on the remote is good enough for me. Third, Crisp Picture (stripe test). I almost bought Samsung LNT4065F. The Samsung has a reflective screen which makes it look really cool + it makes it look like a plasma. However, when the store showed a man with stripe shirt on the both screens, this Sony TV could show the stripe without any difficulties while the some stripes were combined into 1 stripe on the Samsung. That when I decided to pick this Sony over the Samsung. Btw, I also compared this TV with Sony KDL-40V2500. Crisp-wise, they looked the same however the picture on the KDL-40V2500 is a little darker (the contrast is 7,000 compare to 16,000 on the W3000). However despite the contrast is only 7,000 in the V2500, it passed the stripe test as well. Fourth, Varieties of input. This TV offers quite a variety of input. I have tried the HDMI, Component, Coax all of which yield superb pics. The HDMI yielded the highest quality of picture. I tested the TV with HD cable box with component as well with HD cable box with HDMI. The one with HDMI yielded a little better picture. In summary, KDL-40W3000 is a easy to setup, to navigate TV with a high quality picture and has a good varieties of input. Enjoy! 44 of 46 people found the following review helpful. One month so far By Steve I've been living with my 40W series for a month so far and while I agree with the generally positive reviews posted, a few qualifications are in order. 1. The picture quality when hooked up to analog sources is worse than with an analog tv. This is true for all HDTVs, but be prepared for this. When I first set this TV up, I had it hooked to my Dish Network non-hdtv receiver and the picture quality was poor. Now I have a Dish Network 722 hidef receiver and the picture quality is excellent on the HD channels and very good on the standard channels. I also have an xbox360 with the hidef dvd player attached, picture quality is awesome on these. Just remember to set your xbox360 options to hidef output. 2. When the picture is relatively static the picture quality is awsome, however, this set like most all LCDs does not have a high refresh rate, so when there is a lot of movement on the screen you can notice a slight blurring. If this is not acceptable, go for a plasma. 3. The color pallete is outstanding, I have not seen more realistic colors on a TV. That said, you may want to fiddle with the color controls. I found the default set up to be a little over saturated color wise. 4. Appearance wise, this is the best looking tv on the market. I can't stand the glossy finish on the Samsung and other sets. Overall a great TV. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Its a Sony alright By Piotr D. Sucholas You really get what you pay for. I looked at the cheaper and lower Sony models and the resolution at 16000 is why I chose this one. I checked Best Buy and Ciruit City and they told me they match each others prices but can't compeate with Amazon. Worth the 5 day delivery wait saved $300. See all 32 customer reviews...

With a new double-tool design, the Honeywell TE924W All Weather Station with Public Alert boasts an elegant glossy finish that is perfect for modern decors. The Honeywell TE924W is the quickest, most accurate, and most convenient way of keeping track of the weather in and around your home or office, as well as emergency information you may not want to miss. The TE924W allows you to monitor temperature and humidity, wind speed and direction, and even rainfall in multiple remote locations at the same time, all while providing you with the most accurate timekeeping available. Additionally, the main display is a NOAA weatherband receiver with S.A.M.E. (Specific Area Message Encoding) alert functionality that automatically turns it on during an emergency broadcast. This system comes with a compact main display unit and three different Honeywell remote sensor units. And with an effective transmission range from 100 to up to 328 feet, you can install these remote sensors virtually anywhere in or near the house. The three Honeywell remote sensors consist of: an anemometer that measures wind speed and direction, a rain gauge that measures rainfall amount, and a thermo-hygrometer for measuring both temperature and humidity. If you need to know information from multiple locations, you can purchase up to four more remote sensors and use them all via the main display unit's seven-channel capability. The TE924W even stores up to 200 weather records without a PC connection, and comes with a built-in USB port and PC software for syncing with your computer. And not only does this system display the temperature, but provides you with a 12- to 24-hour weather forecast with easy-to-interpret graphical icons, such as clouds, rain, sunshine and more. The TE924W utilizes easy-to-read digits on a bright, blue backlit LCD display that allows you to read its information at a glance day or night with its automatic backlight control. As an added convenience, this system contains a programmable ice warning alarm, which lets you know when a frost is predicted so you can take precautions. Users will also delight in this system's wide outdoor temperature range, which can range from -38 to 158 degrees F when powered by lithium batteries, making it suitable for virtually any application. More than just a personal weather station, the TE924W includes a built-in clock that can display the current time in 12- or 24-hour format. And this clock really will display the current time, since it receives radio signals from the U.S. Atomic Clock in Fort Collins, Colorado. Not only does this consistently adjust the clock to within one second of official U.S. government, but automatically adjusts the time for Daylight Savings Time as well. What's more, this clock comes with dual alarms that feature a crescendo tone and a programmable snooze function, as well as a user-friendly sunrise and sunset calculator, and a moon phase calendar. As convenient as it is accurate, the display unit sits easily on your desktop and can go wherever you do. The main display is powered by the included AC power adapter for running the automatic backlight control, while the remote sensors run on a total of 10 AA batteries (not included). The TE924W main display unit and all the remote sensors in this system are backed by a manufacturer's one-year warranty. What's in the Box Honeywell TE924W long-range weather station with clock and public alert system, remote anemometer sensor, remote rain gauge sensor, remote thermo-hygrometer sensor, CD-ROM with PC software, user's guide and warranty information.

Yakovetz I wanted to write my own review of the Honeywell TN924W after reading the reviews here. I agree with almost all of the statements here, both pro and con. But most of the complaints are subjective, and what kills the unit for some might be acceptable for others. Although the unit can display lots of information, it can only display a few pieces of data at a time. The buttons to cycle through the different types of data are inconveniently located on the back of the unit. While not ideal, you will get used to the "touch and feel" system after awhile. However, this precludes mounting the unit on a wall using the included bracket. This is a rather bad oversight, in my opinion. The station will drop the signal from the remote sensors, too. This is an annoyance, but an easy fix once you learn how to force the unit to search for signals (Just hold down the "down" button on the back for a few seconds). Unfortunately, the included manual is pretty bad and not much help in finding solutions for the quirks of the Honeywell. I downloaded an updated PDF version from the Honeywell website that is much better. One reviewer stated that the backlight is too bright. The backlight can be turned on, off, or set on automatic. If you find it to be too bright, you can always turn it off. The Honeywell TN924W is the only weather station I have ever owned or am familiar with, so I cannot compare it to anything else. While not perfect, I am very happy with mine. I recently received the Weather View 32 software for uploading my weather data to my personal website, Weather Underground, and CWOP. It took some figuring out, but everything is up and running wonderfully. The Honeywell TN924W is an impressive little unit, with lots of features and tons of potential. But it is not without its quirks. Remember that it is a piece of technical scientific equipment. If you don't have the patience to learn the unit and work through a few minor issues, you could very well become frustrated. Don't expect it to work perfectly right out of the box. You need to go through a somewhat lengthy setup process, and you need to do some research (find your latitude, longitude, and elevation) to complete the setup. 42 of 45 people found the following review helpful. The all weather tool By J. Green This is the first complete weather station that offers the s.a.m.e noaa weather radio reports. This feature sounds fine and works once you set it up, but has some design flaws. You can not make the alarm part of the radio any softer although you can turn the alarm and voice off entirely if you wish to. However, they included a volume for the voice. The problem is that even the voice being set to the lowest level in my case is still too loud. The alarm also goes off whether you set it to voice mode or not so you either have to turn it off or keep them both on. As far as th weather station goes it gives all the features of other weather stations minus the UV light. One other note is that they removed the remote that the previous version had and I am not sure what made them do this as all the buttons are in the back of the base unit so the remote would have made it easier to operate all the functions the weather station has to offer. It took an hour or so to mount the outdoor instruments and they immeadiatly started communicating with the base unit and all seem accurate enough. I am however still wondering about the built in barometer as I have seen the barometer change too rapidly so I am not sure if this flaw exists in all the base units. Honeywell said that they are shipping another base unit so I will have to see if the same problem exists. There are some other features like a sensor light that works well and the included simplistic software package for a USB connection to a computer so you can monitor the weather records. It is still nice to see that the

Amazon.com Hands-On Review You've heard the hype, but just how well does ReplayTV actually work? We tried the RTV5504 ourselves just to find out, and its performance was better than we'd imagined. It's great to be able to pause and replay live television. Even better: apart from gotta-watch-it news and sports, "live TV" is something ReplayTV users no longer have to think about. The RTV5504 puts all that's good in the TV universe at your beck and call, recording and storing content from TV, satellite, antenna, or external sources like DTV receivers and camcorders on its spacious, 40 GB hard drive. While watching either live or recorded TV you can freeze an image, advance frame-by-frame, watch in slow motion, or view at 2x to 20x normal speed. What's more, the RTV5504 is home-network-capable, letting you hook it up with additional 5500 Series recorders for multi-room convenience and/or link it to your PC for viewing custom slide shows of your digital photos. Not a cable or satellite user? Not to worry--there's an RF antenna input on the rear panel, just like on your TV. Just understand that the quality of your recordings can never surpass the quality of your reception. If you're using a satellite receiver, a supplied IR blaster will correctly configure the receiver to feed the ReplayTV recorder your desired programs at the correct times. Some basics: 40 GB holds 14 to 40 hours of programming, depending on the quality setting you select (standard, medium, or high). Use of the unit requires ReplayTV service, to which you can subscribe on a monthly basis ($12.95) or pay up front for lifetime access ($299.99). The ReplayTV recorder requires regular scheduling updates via either standard analog phone line (RJ-11 cable provided) or broadband cable modem (router or access point and/or Ethernet cable not included). But once it's set up, using it and appreciating it couldn't be any easier. Before you record anything, ReplayTV delivers real-time, onscreen scheduling information for everything in your area, making paper guides unnecessary and taking all the guesswork out of channel surfing. The channel guide shows program names, program durations, and even offers short descriptions or summaries for each program. ReplayTV's best features all stem from its ability to capture shows you're interested in, either one by one, categorically (all shows of a given title or in a given time slot), or by theme (baseball, music videos, romantic comedies, action movies, documentaries, dance, you name it). You can also search by actor, director, title, or description, and set the unit to capture anything that fits your queries. ReplayZones let you browse all scheduling for the next two weeks by seven primary categories and countless subcats within each category, a terrific way to discover programs you'd never think to look for. You can set recordings to start early or end late or skip broadcasts on any day of the week, one of many options for settling the inevitable recording conflicts. If you walk into a live broadcast you decide you want to keep, you can schedule on the fly to save the remainder of that program. The recorder shines most brightly in active use: navigating, viewing, and managing (resume playback/keep/delete) recorded programming. The QuickSkip button is indispensable, bumping you a commercial-appropriate 30 seconds forward with each press. If you first enter a number, such as 15, QuickSkip will take you forward an equivalent number of minutes, making it easy to hunt for a specific section of a program. Another essential feature is the ability to watch a recorded program while another recording is in progress. And, by turning the unit off (the hard drive is always on, even if the power is ostensibly off), you can watch a live program on one channel via your TV tuner while ReplayTV records another program on a different channel. At a minimum, all quality settings are what we would call "watchable." In the "high" setting, picture and sound quality are both excellent, if still slightly inferior to the raw signal. (If your TV is HD-ready, using the unit's progressive-scan video outputs should result in an improvement, however.) Using the medium and standard settings greatly expands the recorder's storage capacity, which--trust us--you'll probably find yourself wanting a lot sooner than you think. Let's face it: a dip in audio/video quality is a small price to pay for the programming discoveries and incredible conveniences afforded by this device. --Michael Mikesell Pros: Lets you easily prioritize and manage the TV you want to watch Intuitive operation Can play one recorded program while capturing another Well-designed remote control Myriad options for choosing and discovering programs to record Extensive options for navigating recorded content quickly and easily Makes it easy to skip commercials Switches quickly between menus and programming Cons: Best-quality image (live or recorded) is slightly inferior to the source signal May require use of a video amplifier when feeding a cable signal directly to the unit What's in the Box One ReplayTV RTV5504 PVR, a remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, an RF coaxial video cable, a composite-video/stereo analog audio interconnect, an IR blaster cable, a 9-to-15-pin adapter, an RJH-to-9-pin adapter, and an RJ-11 phone cable. The RTV5504 personal video recorder, or PVR, delivers the ability to pause and replay live TV while recording and storing 40 hours of digital, tapeless audio and video--about a season's worth of memory for four hour-long programs. Enjoy a broadband or phone-line connection to the ReplayTV service and convenient home networking through a built-in Ethernet port--there's no extra hardware required. Subscription to ReplayTV service is available either as a $12.95 monthly fee or a one-time lifetime fee of $299.99; a discounted $6.95 monthly fee is available for consumers with more than one active unit. ReplayTV's 5500 Series is the most powerful and flexible PVR yet. With the RTV5504 and the other models in the 5500 Series, ReplayTV has made major revisions, enhancing its feature base while removing certain contentious features found on previous models. ReplayTV's 5.0 software adds four powerful features: recording priority, which identifies recording conflicts and lets you decide which shows to record; network recording, which identifies conflicts and automatically assigns recordings to a home-networked ReplayTV with available hard-disk storage; pause and resume, which lets you pause a movie in the living room and finish watching it in the bedroom; and First-Run Recordings, which records only the new episodes and skips the repeats. A PVR makes it simple to record favorite shows without the complicated programming requirements of VCRs and without videotape hassles. A PVR frees you from fixed TV schedules so you can watch what you want, when you want. Because ReplayTV uses digital recording to store television and/or cable broadcasts on a hard drive as you're watching, you'll also be able to control live television. You can pause live TV to take a telephone call, rewind to see a scene again, use instant replay to jump back seven seconds, or watch a scene in slow-motion. Remote is well laid out and easy to read. ReplayTV connects nightly to the ReplayTV Service to download the latest channel-guide information. Use this intuitive guide and the main system menu to follow simple--and in many cases, one-button--prompts. A feature called theme record automatically records shows using keywords or themes that you supply. You can also search for programs by keyword, helping to discover programs you might not have known about otherwise. If you forget to program your receiver to record a show before you leave for vacation, no worries: you can access your ReplayTV over the Web and program it from anywhere using MyReplayTV. With multiple ReplayTV 5500-series models in a home connected via their built-in Ethernet ports, you can bounce programs around the house to different PVRs or to send digital photos between your PC and your ReplayTV units. And, like the 5000 Series, the 5500 Series still offers the option for broadband connectivity, which at this time consists of the future potential (via upgradeable firmware) to send non-copyrighted material across the Internet to other ReplayTV units and, possibly, to computers. The 5500 Series units network seamlessly with 5000 Series units. And while ReplayTV has removed the Send Show and Automatic Commercial Advance features, the 5500 Series retains the QuickSkip and high-speed fast-forward buttons, so you'll still have considerable flexibility in your playback viewing. At the touch of a button, QuickSkip hops through a recorded program in 30-second increments--great for news features you don't care to watch and, yes, for bypassing the less interesting commercials out there. The fast-forward button scans at up to 20 times normal speed. Built-in Ethernet port allows for convenient home networking. Other features include room-to-room streaming between networked ReplayTVs, a progressive-scan output (for seamless, flicker-free displays on high-definition and HD-ready TVs), an optical digital-audio output (for direct connection with a compatible AV receiver), parental control (including channel blocking), show organizer, manual record, show extender (which lets you manually extend the start or end times of a recording). What's in the Box One ReplayTV RTV5504 PVR, a remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, a coaxial video cable, a composite-video/stereo analog audio interconnect, an IR blaster cable, a 9-to-15-pin adapter, an RJH-to-9-pin adapter, and an RJ-11 phone cable.

It is not just an incremental step up from a vcr -- these things make TV watching far more convenient. Start a show whenever you want, pause it, rewind live tv, etc etc. There are plenty of reviews on all of that, so just a word on choosing a Tivo or a Replay:I have 2 Replays and 1 Tivo now. On the whole, both are great and for the most part, they do exactly the same set of things. The only "important" feature that Replay has that Tivo does not is the ability to skip commercials automatically, which works most of the time and is very cool. The only major feature Tivo has that Replay doesn't is that it automatically records "similar" shows to ones you've chosen in the past to fill unused disk space -- also cool. Outside of these two, they are functionally very similar. The main differentiator I find is power vs. ease of use. Tivo is slightly easier to use -- our 5 year old is a pro at it. Replay requires a couple extra keystrokes, but is a bit more flexible, such as giving you more range on how many of each show to save to use your disk space, etc. If any of the above are decision makers for you (commercial skip, auto record, or ease of use vs. flexibility), then go with it. If not, the rest really is about the same so just shop on price.Enjoy -- they're both great. 24 of 26 people found the following review helpful. Get the better version. Great Product! By J. Baehr I bought this after much debate between the TiVo and ReplayTV about a year ago, and am very happy with my Replay. Although the TiVo is easier to understand for most people, this doesn't mean the Replay is difficult by any means. While visiting some family friends out of town, I told them about my Replay and how much better it makes TV watching, and I set it up for them the next day. Since then, I haven't heard of any problems figuring it out. I'm also showing some local friends my Replay and encouraging them to get one. Although it sounds like I'm a ReplayTV missionary, I wouldn't convert my friends if it wasn't worth it. Since getting my Replay 5504 about a year ago, I upgraded it from 40 hours to 120, something that's apparently more difficult to do on the TiVo. Also, although ReplayTV was hit with a lawsuit for the 5000 series because of the ability to automatically skip commercials, the "Show|Nav" feature does the same thing, although they can't advertise it as that and you need to push one (1) button now. The TiVo makes you fast-forward like a VCR. See all 142 customer reviews...
