I can listen to my radio in the front speakers on the van, and my girls can watch tv in the back using the sound from the speakers on the screens or through headphones. Or, if you feel like giving them a theater experience, you can also put it through the vehicle speakers. The "tv" has its own remote, so you don't have to always change the thing over to change it for them. Plus, it runs off of "RCA" connection cables, so you can split the signal to as many "TVs" as you have available in the vehicle. My girls love this thing. I used to have to remember to bring DVDs so they could watch on trips, but now, if I forget it is not big deal. The channels are: Cartoon Network Mobile, Nickelodean Mobile, and Disney Mobile. They run the same programs, and have some commercials, but they run off their own separate schedule from their real TV versions. My only qualm with this thing is the lack of channels. I would like to see a couple more channels, maybe even a few adult channels (no, not porn, but maybe a movie channel or a few news channels; i.e. Weather Channel would be a plus). This is why I only give it a 4 star rating. Other than that, it is great. It costs roughly $20 a month for everything that Surius offers for radio and the 3 channels. Good unit, but the service leaves a lot to be desired By Willford Instead of redoing the wheel, what follows is the feedback email I sent to Sirius about my experience with this unit. Like others, I was excited to find it on Amazon for a mere $37. Installation was a bit pricey and dicey as noted below, but still much cheaper than a factory option. The picture quality is pretty good (now that I have it working) particularly considering the price of the subscription is a mere $7.98/month. The problem that brings my rating down to a 2 is the very poor customer service -- including what I believe was a dishonest CSR attempting to milk a few extra dollars for the company -- that you must use in order to activate the product. My letter to Sirius follows and serves as the remainder of my review (for those unfamiliar with satellite radio "SID" is the unique identification number all of these radios have and is used by Sirius/XM to activate or cancel service): I am writing to inform you of what was probably the most irritating customer service experience I have had in recent memory -- and it was with your company. I have been a Sirius subscriber for about two years and have been an XM subscriber for about 4. I have had add-on units and built-in units. Recently, I purchased two new cars. The car I bought for myself had an XM radio built in and I had no problems turning off my old Roady II radio. I haven't had to activate my new radio because I am still in my complimentary period. The brand new 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan I purchased for my wife was a different matter altogether. It has a Sirius radio in it that comes with a one-year complimentary service. It worked straight from the dealer. I called Sirius to cancel the radio on my old van (a Chrysler Town & Country) about three days after buying the new van. The representative told me the account could not be closed until about the third week of February (I believe he said the 20th) and that I would receive a refund of about $27 (this is my recollection of the conversation and I may be off by a few dollars). The new van did not come with Backseat TV as a factory option. I purchased an SCV1 kit from Amazon and took the unit to Best Buy in Montgomery, Alabama for installation. Installation cost me right at $160.00. I was a bit concerned because the installer said he had never put one in before. I asked that it be mounted like it would be at the factory if at all possible. He said he would try. In the end, he wound up installing it so that a wire

Ignore the manual that accoompanies the remote; instead, turn on your tv and the DirecTV receiver. Move the device selector switch at the top of the remote to the DirecTV receiver position. Then, press the Menu switch and toggle down to "Parental, Fav's & Setup" and press "Select". In the next menu select "System Setup" and on the next menu select "Remote". Change the "IR/RF Setup" to "RF" and continue following the menu instructions. The receiver will lead you to quickly and easily set up your new RF remote. You'll be able to change channels through walls, doors and ceilings. Use to control a receiver in a closet or cabinet. If you want to control more than one receiver with radio frequencies, you'll need to purchase an RF remote for each receiver. But at about $25 each, this is much less expensive than running miles of wires all over your house. And you won't have to see the unsightly receivers and their accompanying wires.One For All RC64RBK IRF/RF DIRECTV Backlit Universal Remote Control 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Nice RF Remote By J. Davis The Directv RC64RB remote works pretty well. Once in a while you may have hit a button twice or maybe it requires a little more pressure to activate the buttons than the regular old IR remote it replaced. To activate the remote you will have to locate the reciever ID on the back or bottom of your reciever and enter the last 6 digits in following the instructions on page 12 of the manual. Also as a previous reviewer stated you will need to change the mode in the receiver from IR to RF. Keep in mind once you have changed it to RF the old IR remote will not control the reciever anyomore unless you go back to IR mode. I give the remote 5 stars, However I have one problem with this system. I can only program 1 remote to the receiver. I attempted to program a second one but was unable to do it. Maybe it can be done and I just haven't found out about how to do it. My reason for the RF remote is on a few nights we wanted to be able to record 3 shows that came on at the same time in our livingroom, but the receiver will only record 2. We have another DVR in our Kitchen. So I ran the Coax out of the Kitchen receiver to the livingroom TV and programed the KITCHEN receiver for RF. We can now watch the shows on the Kitchen DVR in the kitchen or in the livingroom. Or in other words we now have the capability to record up to 4 shows at once and view them from the living room from either receiver (2 in the Kitchen and 2 in the Livingroom). The remote controls the Kitchen Receiver from the livingroom through 3 walls!! It has one other benefit if you get behind watching your favorite shows you now have 2 DVR's doubling your capacity. We catch up in the off season. Yeah we probably watch to much TV. lol. But this is where the problem shows up if you take the RF remote to the kitchen you have to remember to bring it to the livingroom! That is why I want to be able to program a second remote. I would also check to see if your model receiver will work with this remote. Another reviewer said it did not work for them not sure why. Other than that enjoy. By the way the remote does have a nice back light. But it is not on unless you touch a button then it remains for a few seconds. If you are in the dark you probably don't want to hit the wrong button to activate it again after it turns off. Directv was nice enough to put a little light button on the right side the the remote. The only CON was that the square antenna band takes a bit more lateral "real estate", but for the good reception I'm getting, its worth it SUMMARY: Someone gave me an old style antennae with a booster attachment and it worked OK, but I had to adjust it for certain channels, then during a surgical recovery I used cable for a couple of months then when I had the cable turned off, I couldn't get the old boosted antennae to restore the usual network (ABC, CBS, NBC, PAX, PBS, UPN AND WB{local}) reception. So I did some research on booster antennaes and found this item advertised at a local big screen TV retailer. As they were highly recognized for being hi-quality and hi-tech, I did some more research on the TERK TV5 and while there were very few, (apparently this a reasonably new product), all the reviews I found were positive, so I ordered one oneline (saved $10 over the local retailer). I installed the antennae in a matter of minutes (very simple design) and plugged it in. Turned the TV on and VOILA! instant reception in the above channels and a few others too. I am VERY pleased and satisfied, requires little or no adjustment (for my area) between channels. 25 of 26 people found the following review helpful. I read several magazine reviews and checked out Circuit City's site and this antenna is mentioned at the top of everyone's chart. I have DirecTV and it works great in combo with that, pulls in all my local digital and national HDTV channels. I too am over 30 miles from the stations, but have no bad channels, the only time reception is weak or it does not pull in clearly is a local issue not the antenna's fault. I liked this antenna, because it is not so massive, works indoors great, and it fit between the top of the big screen and the shelf above it with room to still adjust it. I could not believe it worked so well By sxa I recently got rid of my cable company since they only provided 4 local high definition channels and that too was very unreliable. One of the other channels would be out weeks at a time. They did not have the ability to connect an over the air (OTA) antenna either to the receiver box. I had the Dish Network installed, and I am using the 921 box which is a High Def Tuner with DVR. It has a coax connection for the OTA antenna. Once you plug in an external antenna, you go to the menu on the receiver and choose Local Channels and then choose Scan Digital Channels option and the receiver sets off to find all the UHF Digital channels you can receive. Then it presents you a menu of all the digital channels, you can see which ones are High Def since it will have the channel name with DT or HD next to it. I realize this is not relavent to the antenna I am commenting on, but I wish someone had told me how all this works since I spent some time on figuring this out, so I am putting this in for completeness. Anyhow I went to Radio Shack and got the TERK HDTVi antenna which looks funky, it picked up just PBS and Fox, nothing else would come in, also it was very directional. Next I got the TERK TV-53 which is what you install over your Dish, that did not work either. Then reading the reviews here and on the Circuit City website, I purchased the Terk TV-5 from Circuit City and right away by just placing the antenna on the floor near the TV it picked up all the High Def Channels in my area (UPN, WB, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and Fox). Though the receiver recognized these channels, I was unable to get ABC and CBS since the signal was weak, I live over 30 miles from these stations. Sangwan (UPDATE Jan 27th, 2011: There is a firmware update available now to fix the freezing issue. I am updating so others can benefit. As I have returned my player I will not be able to post reviews about the new firmware.) (UPDATE Jan 20th, 2011: I returned the Blu-ray player. Amazon was amazing with their service.) (UPDATE Jan 5th, 2011: There are still no firmware updates available. I have also updated this review in various sections below according to my experience with this player.) I think Toshiba should be happy that they get one star out of this unit from me!! This is a very poorly designed 3D blu ray player. The software of this player is in such bad state that if you try and tweak around a little, it will freeze on you. And once frozen nothing will work. (As other reviewers have also stated, not even the power button.) The only way out is to unplug the unit. The freezing issue is so frequent that it makes this unit almost useless Lets me give you a brief on what my take on this blu ray 3D capable player is: Remote: (UPDATE Jan 5th, 2011: Forgot to mention before, no backlight on the remote as well. Another thing I have noticed is that the remote has a very short range and sensitivity is poor.) Little confusing with the menu button. Too many of those are present and you have to kind of remember which one will do what. Apart from that there is no mute button on the remote. Everything else looks fine and easy to use. But again if the unit freezes you have to jump out of you cozy couch and unplug the unit as the remote won't work in that scenario. Playback: (UPDATE Jan 5th, 2011: Didn't encounter playback freezing after that one incident. But 8 out of 10 times the player won't come back from standby. I have to keep unplugging the power cord to get it started.) ) Yes, it will play your DVDs, Blu-ray etc very nicely and won't freeze during playback The only freezing issue I faced during playback was after pressing the rewind button while a DVD was playing. (Although, this only happened once out of may be 10-12 times I pressed the rewind button and other buttons during playback.) WiFi: This player has a built in WiFi which is nice. And also the setup was easy. But the sad part is it drops signal every now and then. (May be another software issue or a poor hardware) Also, after dropping signal it freezes sometimes. Net Connected Apps: If you can get around the WiFi issue (May be by placing your WiFi right next to it or using an ethernet cable.) then you can try the net connected apps. There aren't many but the high hitters are present. I first tried the Pandora app. And yes, it freezes again :( .... I had to try at least 3 times to get my Pandora app going. I finally bailed out of it after another freeze on my 4th try. But it was not completely unsuccessful It does play music from Pandora and has all the things one need (like search and radio stations that you have already created etc). Next, I tried the Netflix app and it freezes right there. That was too much to take and I completely bailed out of the Net Connected apps section!!!! Setting Menu: The setting menu is nice and easy to tool around. But the freezing problem is existent there as well. The player froze at least twice within 5 mins when I was tooling around. Speed and response to command: It is slow to respond when you hit a button. But one can live with that if other features are set right. Load up speed (for DVD and Blu ray): Not bad. I wouldn't say it is great but I think it would be hard to find another player with better speed. 3D capability: (UPDATE Jan 5th, 2011: I tested the player's 3D capability and when it plays it plays well. I do not see any issue with 3D playback from the players end.) ) I am still waiting on my 3D capable TV to come This player came within 2 days of my order so I am sitting with this player and my old TV (with no 3D.

I was a little leary about purchasing this unit as it was being used in a room that does "double-duty" of being a place where I listen to high-end analog and digital music along with occasional use of a home-theatre. The primary purpose is music reproduction and I was tempted to go with tube-style amps and other gear in support of my vinyl record collection. But since there are always compromises in this area (space, money, etc) I decided to take a chance with this Onkyo. All I can say is WOW. I run 5.1 channels with bi-amplification on the front speakers (my one concession to music versus video). The sound reproduction is excellent. I have done a lot of comparison shopping and looked at a lot of different systems and I would have had to spend over $4-5K on hybrid tube amps to get sound better than this. In terms of home theater, it is even better It performs as advertised. Set-up was a breeze and the audessy is a pleasure to use and instantly "balanced" my room. For home theater use, it is incredible. Ground-shaking lows, booming sound when appropriate yet the most subtle sounds (such as dialogue at a low level) is outstanding. Some reviewers complain about it running hot. I have mine outside of any cabinet (top shelf of a component stand) and have run it for hours at 75-80% of max volume with no problems. My two complaints are: The remote as the buttons are a bit hard to read in dim light (even with the back-lighting) and it only has 3 digital optical inputs. Given I use seperate CD and DVD players, along with a Laser Disc and other digital sources, I had to use the alternate digital cable connects. Not a big deal, I just expected more digital optical inputs. In summary, if you are looking for a leading-edge video processing unit that has outastanding home-theater characterstics at a low price, then this is definitely it Throw in the fact that it processes music far beyond the expectations one would have for solid-state receiver (especially at this price point) and you really have a great unit. If you do decide to buy this, please note the dimensions and weight. This is a large, heavy receiver. Center channel failed after 46 days By audiovideophile I bought this unit (SR 876 B) having read horror stories of 806 and blue dot issues. Unit had burr and brown DACs like 805 which was the last bench mark. Unit arrived in great shape from amazon. Worked excellently for 46 days. Just past the 30day limit on almost any return policy period the center channel started making a periodic sound It was mixed in with whatever was being played through the center channel. The sound was pink noise of duration 15-20seconds then repeating every other minute. It was loud enough not to be bearable. Called onkyo support. They were very unhelpful. They seemed to make it an owner/user error to an amp error. Like robots - they request the customer to reset the unit. Like that will help a bug in the analong section (most likely a failed capacitor). Unit ran very hot when used. Onkyo support requested me to call amazon and arrange for a return. Amazon support was very helpful - however was not able to arrange for an replacement. Waiting to see if I can complete a return. Now the price of the unit has shot up. Hudson bought this for my 8 months Onkyo has lost his mind (transfigured on / off, not responding to any commands). It's been two months and still not fixed, so I made a good move to replace it. Love how it looks like HP. HK and JBL in the past, and stand behind their products. The only concern is that it has entered into security mode when playing at high volumes for extended periods. He runs very hot. I installed a fan in the cabinet. Too bad that the receiver has a switched outlet. For this price it should. See all 1 reviews ...

This "is" the last remote you'll ever need. I have other previous model and could not be happier. Light is a good idea when they watch their favorite shows at night, but this model has a "red" light backlight soil is very difficult to see. The second model had a normal "white green" lower back that worked well. I'm not sure why you chnage to return to it. Best universal remote control for high-end receivers and new Blu-ray for GreatStuffNow've used several brands of universal remotes in the past 12 years, and I think this is the best. I've never been able to get a remote to control all my components satisfactory so far. I bought a new Sharp Aquos TV, Panasonic Blu-Ray, Onkyo Receiver 100 watts and more I have an AT & T Motorola Uversa field. Since some of these elements are new, could work no remote codes (although the Onkyo remote control has come close). This distance is not preprogrammed codes were, or ... But ... You can program this remote to do all the other remotes do. It took an hour or two, but now he works ALL COMPONENTS! Woo hoo! I especially like the fact that a receptor-specific keys (such as DTS, THX, DD) as the universal remotes do not have. So if I want to switch to THX sound, I just press Shift + THX on my remote and it goes ... I want to remote receivers. Moreover, the possibility that remote macros endless ... and includes a control break, so you can make a macro to pause for a few seconds (while the component is turned on, for example) before the next step. This is very useful from components such as Blu-Ray to slow down high-end receivers. Somewhat complicated, but it works ... By engineer Norm It works well, feels good in my hand, and does more than I needed to do. I personally like this remote compared to some of the others I've used. The remote controls my box with the optional RM-blaster unit, Panasonic plasma TV, VCR, DVD, and probably something I would like in the future. Be prepared to spend the time to program special functions, like turning the TV off when the VCR's remote control and function, as an example ... but everything works, including the beautiful red illuminated buttons that you can see if you are from Mars. Davidson Pros: excellent sound-quality Burr-Brown DAC (pretty much the best around)-Easy to configure, great interface - rock performance (no waiting when you hit play, and no network problems)-Designed for the IT people with IT people, but do not require a lot of writing and to start (and their documentation is great). -Price Cons:-The only thing I can think of is that it would be cool to have a USB port with USB Mass Storage support so you can use a USB hard drive connect directly to the puppy and rock and roll. However, this is just nit-picking, and they probably are not USB as it would to increase the price and would not give a lot of performance for many people. Details: Every once in a while a product is so ingenious that it reminds me why I love technology. I had read on the Squeezebox, and I thought it would be really cool. When I got once I realized it was slightly smaller and more elegant than I expected. The Squeezebox will not store music, you have another computer act as a "server" to contain the music files. This server runs a software called "Slimserver" and it will run on any Linux, and it also runs on Mac OS X and Windows (including Vista). I have over 400 CDs converted to stream FLAC (lossless) and they are perfectly from my server, even the average 30MB streaming FLAC files via 802.11g - no problem. I do not know where to start. I mention this is amazing? I was running a Bose Lifestyle 48 before that, but when I finally decided to take full advantage of HDMI connections, which was presented to the Bose and ONKYO. What a breath of fresh air! There are many features of the TX-NR906 I like. Starting with the remote - I'm sure it's a common practice today for the remote control receiver to be quite intelligent, but this guy is really brilliant. I could teach all the control commands of my three main remote (TV players, BD and CD), more or less, drivers only point to point and click. I refer to commands that are not normally part of the arsenal of a universal driver. The large number of connection choices really come in handy, as I well above HDMI inputs and has one of the two outputs are connected to my TV. There are a ton of digital audio options as well. The front panel offers a number of connectivity options, including a USB port for playing MP3 files. Another aspect of the receiver that I really like is the fact that this system not only sounds phenomenal when playing movies, but sounds like a great CD to play or listen to music from my computer. EDIT by Darcal - 15/12/09: After further use of the device and nüLink is based on the traffic, I met many times when traffic data was not easy to be too specific. There are times that I go to and the 1690 seems to indicate that I was yellow in traffic, but would it really was no traffic on the road at the time. There were also other cases where there is a road highway with bumper to bumper traffic would be, but that has been nüvi acknowlegde all traffic. But overall there was more time than not that the 1690 has the traffic data and was nailed for sure, but it was more like a 70-30 ratio, which is just OK in my opinion. Although I still believe the 1690 has the most accurate traffic information compared to other models nuvi (explained in my review), but it can still be desired at times. I have found that radio simply the best resource for the latest traffic to the minute -------------------------- --- - --- ------------------------------------------ --- - ---- -------------- I buy lots of navigation equipment, so I was excited about 1690 because it was a lot of hype with this unit. The 1690 Garmin's current top of the line model. It has the new Garmin nüLink service such things as traffic, weather, gas prices, movie times, etc. It's really good if you like that sort of thing. It's actually a much better version of MSN Direct, if you've ever used that service. I have a Nuvi 765T and 1490T as well, so I will make comparisons of the devices. First I must say that this device is a satellite signal FAST (if you use the device in the last few days) acquires. I have less than 10 seconds fast. I remember with my old Nuvi 350 that I used to have to sit in my car and a few minutes for the unit waiting to get a signal, not with the 1690 same can be said with the 1490T, and the acquisition fast satellite. In 1690, however, I can basically a signal in my house without walking directly through the window, which is the first device that can do this on my experiences. I think it is a city with tall buildings, like NYC with this type of character that I've tested. As far as navigation, navigating and other Garmin unit, so there is no change. Directions are very precise calculations and re-route if you miss a turn fast. Text to speech is excellent and is very precise and clear with the pronunciation of street names. Garmin did something with the new software in all its units is to enlarge the text in the green bar when browsing. It's amazing, because the text in the green bar used to be too young to understand at times while driving the size and thickness characteristics of arrival (which can be changed to another category) and speedometer (which can 't be changed to another category) was increased. Font speedometer now turns red when you exceed the speed limit. I noticed small signs that the speed limit is now on almost every street and not just highways. They are also completely correct and updated as soon as the right hand speed limit at times. Another thing to note in 1690 now have the opportunity to change the appearance. You can have the map screen, where it is smaller and a list of four categories (three choosable, you can not change the speedometer) is right around 3.5 "screen size of the map (now such arrival., Direction, distance to destination, etc.) ) You can also now flick of your finger on the screen as the iPhone to browse the menu instead of pressing the arrow up / down, which is clean Some complained about the responsiveness of the keyboard, however, feel that is the same that all the above.
