Hitting The Home Theater Sweet Spot Onkyo has forged an iron-clad reputation for making high-quality home theater more affordable. Case in point: the HT-RC360, a versatile networking A/V receiver with a savvy selection of today’s most vital technologies. This receiver does more than just handle all your favorite disc-based movies, games, and music. Thanks to its network function, the HT-RC360 also lets you bring to your living room a range of audio content from the internet or your PC. Six HDMI® inputs—including one on the front panel—let you enjoy all the latest A/V formats: immersive 3D video; ultra-high resolution 4K video upscaling via Qdeo™ technology; lossless audio from Dolby and DTS; and expanded surround sound from Audyssey DSX™ and Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz. Further exploiting the versatility of HDMI, the HT-RC360 includes a new user-friendly GUI and on-screen display for easy adjustment of settings. Driving it all is a clean and powerful amplifier design based on Onkyo’s proprietary WRAT. Network Capability Delivers Internet Radio and Network Audio Streaming via Ethernet As one of Onkyo's new breed of receivers that can link directly to the internet or to your home PC via a local network, the HT-RC360 takes streaming audio and internet radio to a whole new level. MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, and LPCM audio files can now be played back through your main system with unprecedented power and fidelity. The HT-RC360 also brings to life a huge array of internet radio channels from vTuner, SIRIUS XM Internet Radio®, Mediafly, Pandora®, and Slacker™, plus on-demand music streaming from Napster and Rhapsody (availability depends on region). As well as being compatible with earlier platforms, the receiver is compatible with Microsoft's Windows® 7 platform, which includes the DLNA 1.5-specified "Play To" media-streaming feature. The HT-RC360's internet connectivity has the added benefit of making firmware updates simpler than ever. Direct Digital Connection of iPod®/iPhone® via Front-Panel USB Port The HT-RC360's front-panel USB port lets you access MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, and AAC audio files stored on a USB flash drive or iPod®/iPhone®. As the audio signals are transported in digital form, rather than analog, there is much less chance for signal degradation. End result: your music sounds cleaner and more faithful to the original. A further benefit of the USB input is that it lets you use the system's remote controller to play back audio files on the connected device. The HT-RC360 also incorporates Onkyo's exclusive Advanced Music Optimizer to compensate for lost bit information and improve the quality of compressed audio signals. End result: your music sounds cleaner and more faithful to the original. Wireless Ready: PC and Internet Audio Delivered Wirelessly to Your Main System About the size of a quarter, the UWF-1 connects to the USB port on compatible Onkyo A/V receivers and brings audio through your wireless router to your home entertainment system. HDMI® Support for 3D Video and Audio Return Channel The six HDMI inputs on the HT-RC360 let you simultaneously connect high-def sources such as a Blu-ray player, a gaming console, and a cable/satellite tuner. A single output then sends a pristine signal to your connected high resolution display. The HDMI implementation on this receiver supports both 3D video and an Audio Return Channel, along with numerous high resolution formats. 3D video brings exciting possibilities to home entertainment, with movie, game, and broadcast content on the increase and 3D-compatible TVs now on the market. Meanwhile, the Audio Return Channel allows audio content received directly by your HDTV's tuner to be sent "upstream" via HDMI to your A/V receiver, without the need for a separate S/PDIF audio cable. 4K Upscaling and Processing with Marvell Qdeo™ Video Chip The HT-RC360 offers full 4K (3840 x 2160) upscaling of standard video sources such as 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i/p. Interlaced-to-progressive conversion and scaling are performed by a high-quality Marvell Qdeo video-processing chip. Qdeo™ is a versatile video processor that uses algorithms designed to erase video noise and artifacts such as jaggies and feathering. Played back on a compatible widescreen display, your Blu-ray Discs and DVDs will look more detailed and cinematic than ever. A Suite of Audyssey Technologies for the Ideal Listening Environment (1) Audyssey 2EQ® tailors multi-channel audio for your home theater speaker set-up by measuring three room positions and applying a resolution filter to the satellite speakers to correct for room acoustics. (2) Audyssey Dynamic EQ® maintains a consistent bass response, tonal balance, and surround-sound effect at different volume levels, so you can enjoy the natural dynamics of your content regardless of the volume. (3) Audyssey Dynamic Volume® automatically compensates for volume fluctuations in different audio content (for example, during commercial breaks) while optimizing the dynamic range. Audyssey DSX™ and Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz Add Expanded Dimensions to Surround Sound The HT-RC360 handles two advanced surround-sound technologies from Audyssey and Dolby that offer exciting new ways to set up the speakers in your home theater system. Audyssey DSX can reconfigure the HT-RC360's surround back channels to deliver "front height" channels. These channels carry ambient, non-directional audio that adds a new vertical dimension to your movies and games. Dolby Pro Logic IIz provides a similar front-height speaker option that likewise works to create a more enveloping home theater experience. Convenient Overlay On-Screen Display via HDMI® Changing your A/V receiver's settings is now more seamless than ever, thanks to the HT-RC360's overlay On-Screen Display (OSD) feature. With a simple press of the home button, the on-screen set-up menus appear overlaid on the video image you're watching. This means you can adjust the settings immediately, without having to switch back and forth from a blank screen background. Onkyo Remote App for iPod®/iPhone® Available as a free download, this app lets you use your iPod® touch or iPhone® as a remote controller to control a range of functions on the HT-RC360. As well as letting you select internet radio stations, it also lets you select streaming audio input from a DLNA-compatible server. TheRemote App also enables you to perform basic playback operations and control the receiver's volume with an interface that uses the iPod®/iPhone®'s built-in accelerometer. *Compatible iPod®/iPhone® models: iPod® touch 3rd generation or later; iPhone® 3GS or later. I have an ear to hear, played trumpet for many years and have been involved with high-end car audio for over 25 years. I went to Best Buy and Magnolia entered their room and there was a couple of B & W 61 / 2 "bookshelf speakers for $ 799 Simon and Garfunkle game. He seemed irritated as the Denon receiver will return only Fry. I asked what was the receiver and stressed the Dennon, I understand, I asked him to put on the Elite VSX-32 up and looked great. I started the search for Pioneer receiver and I found the Onkyo TX-NR609 THX certified and has a video processor Qdeo and started watching it. The specifications were clean 100 watts at 0.08% THD @ 20-20K Hz Well Friday Fry Electronics ad appeared and it was their anniversary sale, it was an Onkyo receiver for $ 299, it was the HT-RC360. I looked at the specs and saw no difference between this receiver and the TX-NR609 is the THX certification. The device has the same name, same specs, so I picked it up. WOW is what I have to say, I run Polk RTI A3 is the fronts to the wall the THX settings recommendations, the Polk Monitor 30 for front and Velodyne 10, RMC Polk center channel. room size is 10x13 with a 46 "Samsung LCD LN46c630. This receiver is clean and can shoot some serious power to your speakers. Not only in movies, but Blu-ray Madonna, Elton John Red Piano Great, you can really Hearing the details I could not with the Dennon or my old Sony ES. piano, horns, vocals are strong and clean at loud volumes. I am no longer in view of the Pioneer Elite. Let me ad features are basic, not to be confused with the simple bass and treble adjustment is multi-band eq, but I do not like a negative, see, because I try not to introduce EQ in my setups. This device does not need an EQ with a balance of the speakers. However, if you're the type who likes to use Auddessy you'll be happy. Do you EQ it. I recommend this receiver for the audiophiles, even out there. He will amaze you. 20 of 23 people found the following review helpful. AV Receiver great - excellent point average prices by Kay Hayes I paired this receiver with an Onkyo HT-RC360 7.1 Surround Sound Speaker System Onkyo SKS-HT870 Home Theater Speaker System and took him for a week long test drive. The fourth set I was not really anything in the fourth, but a loft. Instead of four walls, I was dealing with three walls and a wall at the back half of the "fourth". It is a difficult arrangement for a speaker system, but ultimately I was living with the results of the approximately 14 meters wide and 12 feet deep is satisfied. The arrangement is such that the TV and audio equipment to listen to a wall 14 feet and chairs against the wall opposite half. The two side walls are 12 feet and strong. The speakers are mounted close enough to where Dolby Labs offers the exception that the surround speakers are about 8 feet and sloping down toward the listening area. I do not have the rear surround speakers offered in a traditional 7.1 setup, but chose to "front up" option of Dolby Pro Logic IIz, because I was not completely a rear wall. In fact, if the receiver has this option, n not, I would be stuck with a 5.1 configuration. Physically setting up the system setup was a breeze. The color coding on the speaker cable, the Onkyo speaker outputs on the receiver. Inputs and outputs are clearly marked. I chose to use the supplied cables and wires to see how things straight from the box if you connect the TV via HDMI output only the programming can be done via remote control and displayed on the TV screen. At this point I ran into two sections ugly. At first I could not climb.
